Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that Article 370 and 35A are now history, marking a new chapter focused on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and constitutional rights. Meanwhile, political controversies erupted following a protest organized by PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar, where the BJP accused her of insulting the Tricolor after it appeared upside down, demanding legal action.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah defended Mufti, suggesting it could have been an oversight rather than deliberate, while stating that the wounds of August 5, 2019, remain unhealed and statehood is yet to be restored. Protests were staged by Conference and Congress workers, with police detaining NC activists in Shopian. In contrast, the BJP held celebratory Tiranga rallies and celebratory marches across Jammu and Srinagar to mark the occasion.
