Punjab Congress MLAs held a protest outside the Punjab Vidhan Sabha over worsening law and order, drug mafia, gangsterism, and paper leaks in the state. A scuffle broke out between the Congress delegation and Punjab Police deployed at the site as police prevented the protesters from moving forward or carrying placards into the Assembly.
Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of double standards and alleged complicity with police, drug, real estate, and illegal mining mafias. He stated that the Vidhan Sabha Speaker disallowed debates on key issues, including law and order, drugs, paper leaks, and Akal Takht Sahib directions, rendering proceedings defunct.
