The fresh arrests point to a widening probe into the alleged manipulation of the examination process amid students’ protests. Investigators claim the accused worked in coordination with the examination agency, TSR Data Processing Ltd. (TDPL), and facilitated a “setting" arrangement during the test. The allegations are under investigation, and no final conclusions have been reached so far. Earlier, 11 accused had already been sent to judicial custody. With the latest action, the CID has signalled that it is intensifying its crackdown on those allegedly involved in the irregularities. Probe Widens As Protests Continue The development comes amid ongoing protests in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in the preliminary examination. Aspirants have been demanding cancellation of the test, structural reforms in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), and an independent probe by a central agency.

The agitation has gathered pace over the past week, with Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) leader Devendra Nath Mahato launching an indefinite hunger strike. He has said he will continue the fast until the government cancels the examination and introduces reforms to restore trust in the recruitment system. Student groups have also raised concerns about the role of TDPL, questioning the decision to assign the examination work to the private agency. They have argued that only an external investigation can ensure accountability. CID Steps Up Investigation The controversy began after allegations surfaced regarding discrepancies in the preliminary examination results. Following public pressure, the Jharkhand government ordered a CID inquiry into the matter. Since then, the agency has carried out searches at JPSC-linked locations, seized electronic evidence, and questioned several officials.
