(File photo) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said the preliminary findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya have not pointed to the involvement of any sadhu or saint. Speaking to reporters, Adityanath said, “No involvement of any sadhu or saint was found in the SIT’s initial report in the case related to the alleged embezzlement of offerings (chadhava) at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple," Hindustan Times reported.

His statement comes amid a political controversy over the alleged embezzlement in temple donations, with the issue also leading to protests in Parliament. CM Yogi Targets SP, Congress Further, the Uttar Pradesh CM accused the Samajwadi Party and Congress of using the alleged Ram Temple donation issue to target the state government and distract from Assembly proceedings. “This conduct by the Samajwadi Party and the opposition is both undemocratic and unconstitutional. It is also an insult to the sentiments of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar," he said. Taking aim at the Samajwadi Party, Adityanath said, “It was the Samajwadi Party government that committed the sin of staining the lanes of Shri Ayodhya Dham and the sacred flow of the Saryu with blood." He also criticised those who had previously questioned the existence of Hindu deities.

“Those who have already raised questions about the existence of Lord Shri Ram and Lord Shri Krishna are today talking about faith," the Chief Minister said. Adityanath further alleged that the two opposition parties were working together against the state’s interests. “A nefarious attempt is being made jointly by the Samajwadi Party and the Congress to tarnish the perception of Uttar Pradesh," he said. Meanwhile, opposition leaders vowed to continue raising the alleged donation embezzlement issue. Samajwadi Party MLA Mata Prasad Pandey said, “They will present the budget if they want to, but we will talk about Ram Mandir donations," ANI reported. The Assembly’s Monsoon Session began on Monday and will conclude on August 6. The alleged donation theft also sparked protests in Parliament, with opposition MPs raising the issue alongside several other matters.
