In an interview with India Today, DMK Lok Sabha MP Dr Kalanidhi Veeraswamy defended DMK leader Udayanidhi Stalin amid controversy surrounding alleged offensive remarks. Addressing questions about sexually suggestive comments made during a public rally, Veeraswamy maintained that Udayanidhi was referring to the Cauvery River water issue rather than personal targetings.
He claimed that the legal action and arrest were political tactics designed to distract the public from the upcoming Tamil Nadu budget session and unfulfilled promises. While defending Udayanidhi's intent and stating that any direct clarification should come from Udayanidhi himself, Veeraswamy offered a personal perspective on resolving public outrage, stating that "an apology would definitely be helpful" if anyone's feelings were hurt by the remarks.
