Confirming her decision, Singh said she no longer wishes to pursue the matter after the Prime Minister publicly appealed for compassion. She said she has informed the Delhi Police about withdrawing her complaint, adding that if the country’s Prime Minister has chosen to forgive the girl, she too does not want to continue with legal proceedings. Viral Video Triggered Row The controversy began after a video from a protest against alleged paper leaks and education-related issues at Jantar Mantar went viral on social media. In the video, the Noida girl was allegedly heard making abusive remarks against Prime Minister Modi. Following the video’s circulation, a Zero FIR was registered in Noida and later transferred to the Delhi Police, as the incident took place in the national capital.
The case was lodged over alleged objectionable remarks against the Prime Minister. Girl Apologised, Said She Was Influenced After facing widespread criticism, the teenager issued a public apology, saying she deeply regretted her remarks. She claimed she had been influenced by people around her at the protest and had been encouraged to speak freely. She later described the Prime Minister’s decision to forgive her as giving her a “second life" and said she was grateful for the opportunity to apologise. Family Claimed Threats After Controversy Despite the apology, the girl’s family has alleged that they received threats and were forced to change residences multiple times. Her lawyer has claimed the family shifted homes several times due to safety concerns, although Delhi Police has said it has not received any formal complaint alleging harassment.
