Adilabad police seize ganja plants, six quintals of subsidised rice in separate cases

The Bela police in Adilabad district seized 14 ganja plants from an agricultural field belonging to a man from Thippa village in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district after apprehending him during a vehicle-checking operation at Bela on Tuesday.
The accused was identified as Bheema Govind Athram, 61, of Thippa village. He was apprehended early on Tuesday with 10 grams of dry ganja. A case was registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
In a separate incident, police seized six quintals of government-subsidised rice being illegally transported to Maharashtra in a van on the outskirts of Adilabad town
on Tuesday. Three persons allegedly involved in smuggling the subsidised rice were arrested.
