The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday began distributing essential commodities for the combined months of August and September to more than 11,900 families affected by the Sabari and Godavari floods in the submerged villages of the Polavaram irrigation project in Polavaram district. According to the preliminary flood report, as of August 4, at least 77 villages had been affected by the floods.
