The report said they have no plans to increase it further. Vinicius and his representatives are seeking a salary of around €30 million (around Rs. 330 crore) annually, believing that he’s entering his peak years and his salary should reflect his stature in the team, leaving a sizeable gap between the two sides. ESPN added that Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat has been spearheading the club’s efforts to convince the Brazil international to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The uncertainty over his future has sparked speculation about a possible move away from Madrid, with Premier League champions Arsenal among the clubs linked with the winger in recent weeks. Real Madrid seem prepared to consider offers if no agreement on a contract extension is reached this summer. Should that happen, the La Liga giants are expected to seek a transfer fee of around €150 million (around Rs. 1,645 crore), some of which would go to the player as a signing bonus at his new club. Vinicius returned to training on Monday after his post-World Cup break, undergoing medical tests before joining new head coach José Mourinho and the rest of the squad for the start of preparations ahead of the new season. If Vinicius decides against renewing at Real, Arsenal would be the best-placed club to sign him, with other reports in English media indicating that the North Londoners have already agreed personal terms with the player’s representatives.
