Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that the government has launched integrated, intelligence-led, and technology-driven operations targeting fugitives abroad. Highlighting the legal reforms, he stated that the provision for trial in absentia under three new laws empowers the justice system to initiate proceedings against absconding criminals. Strict application of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has led to the confiscation of assets worth 17,874 crore rupees and the restitution of 18,762 crore rupees.
Additionally, frameworks like the Bharat Pool have established a seamless international coordination grid, effectively turning the world into a hunting ground for evaders. The government continues to focus on coordinating with agencies to ensure absconders are brought back to India.
