Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that he would lead a march of 100 people to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence on Tuesday to submit public petitions opposing E20 petrol. However, the march was stopped at police barricades before reaching the Prime Minister's official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. Delhi Police reiterated that no permission had been sought for the march, nor had any permission been granted. The AAP national convener alleged that the Centre was promoting ethanol-blended fuel under pressure from US President Donald Trump, claiming India had "yielded" to buy ethanol from the United States.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal questioned why the government continued to push E20 despite complaints from vehicle owners, alleging there was a "hidden agenda" behind the policy. He said the delegation would personally hand over the petitions to the Prime Minister and seek a discussion on the concerns surrounding ethanol-blended petrol.
