The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a State-wide bandh of colleges on Wednesday (August 5), seeking that the Andhra Pradesh government address issues relating to higher education. The call was announced after ABVP activists staged a protest outside the Visakhapatnam District Collector’s office on Tuesday (August 4, 2026).
ABVP Visakhapatnam district convener Prasad Nallabelli said the agitation was aimed at pressing the government to resolve long-pending issues in the education sector. Speaking on the occasion, Visakha Vibhag convener Nithin urged the government to release the pending fee reimbursement dues, which the organisation claimed amounted to ₹6,800 crore, withdraw G.O. No. 77, complete admissions to all courses and announce a common academic calendar for universities.
The ABVP also sought permanent buildings and improved food facilities for Social Welfare hostels, and measures to curb the commercialisation of education. City secretary Dhanush,
State executive committee members Chandu, Lakshyath, Charan and Likhil, along with activists and students, took part in the protest.
