DMK president MK Stalin has strongly condemned the TVK government following the police action against Leader of Opposition Udayanidhi Stalin, labeling the incident an act of political vendetta and arrogance. Speaking after Udayanidhi was taken to Thanjavur for interrogation over statements made during a Cauvery protest, MK Stalin defended his son, asserting that Udayanidhi made no vulgar comments, named no individuals directly, and was targeted merely to divert attention from state water rights issues.
He questioned the police's decision to transport Udayanidhi to Thanjavur instead of conducting the inquiry in Chennai, especially on the eve of the crucial Tamil Nadu assembly budget session. Furthermore, MK Stalin criticized the ruling administration's handling of the Cauvery and Mekedatu dam disputes, characterising the government as incompetent. Meanwhile, political observers noted that the government's strict action serves as a broader message regarding accountability for public remarks.
