Rapid Read News18 A Ukrainian drone strike on a warehouse in Russia’s Moscow region killed at least five people and injured 10 others overnight on Monday, according to regional governor Andrei Vorobyov, as both Russia and Ukraine continued exchanging long-range attacks. Vorobyov said the attack struck an industrial site in Novoselki, Chekhov, around 69 kilometres (43 miles) south of the Kremlin. A warehouse caught fire, while an electrical substation and an administration building were also damaged. Among the 10 injured, seven were reported to be in moderate condition, while one person sustained serious injuries, the governor said in a post on Telegram.

Although Russian officials did not identify the facility that was hit, Ukrainian media reported that the warehouse was linked to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, often referred to as the “Russian Amazon". The location is also listed as a Wildberries site on Russia’s Yandex search engine. Ukraine has carried out repeated strikes on Wildberries warehouses in recent weeks, saying the facilities are used to supply the Russian military. Moscow has consistently denied the allegation. Local officials also reported overnight attacks on Wildberries warehouses in Russia’s St Petersburg and Tver regions. The company has not publicly commented on the Moscow-region strike but confirmed that one of its facilities in St Petersburg was hit. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 320 Ukrainian drones overnight. Russia also launched fresh strikes across several parts of Ukraine, leaving at least four people dead and several others injured.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said an 89-year-old woman was killed in an overnight strike on the southern port city of Mykolaiv. Seven people were injured, including two girls aged two and 12. In the northeastern Sumy region, a Russian strike on a residential area killed a woman and two girls, aged five and 10, while four other people were injured, the emergency service said. Elsewhere, two people were injured in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and a food warehouse caught fire following a strike in Dnipro, according to Ukrainian authorities. The latest escalation comes a day after a drone struck a crowded beach in Russia’s Krasnodar region, killing seven people and injuring 58, Russian officials said. Some Ukrainian Telegram channels claimed the drone may have crashed after its signal was jammed by Russian electronic warfare systems. Russian media, citing eyewitnesses, reported that gunfire was heard before the explosion, suggesting air defence systems may have attempted to shoot it down.
