‘PoK Under Siege, Global Stir On August 5’: JAAC’s Mehran Urges World To Speak Up | Exclusive Reported By, Last Updated: August 04, 2026, 16:08 IST "On August 5, people across the state and all over the world should come out wherever they are to express their stance and raise their voice," JAAC's Khawaja Mehran Rapid Read Khawaja Mehran Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) core member Khawaja Mehran, in an exclusive interview with CNN-News18, appealed to people across Pakistan, the overseas community and supporters worldwide to hold protests on August 5 against what he described as “oppression" in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Mehran thanked people in Pakistan and members of the overseas community who, according to him, had raised their voices in solidarity with the people of Kashmir."I want to express my gratitude to the conscious people of Pakistan who stood in solidarity with the Kashmiri people and raised their voice against the oppression they are facing," Mehran said.

Calling for demonstrations on August 5, Mehran urged people across Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan and other parts of the world to participate in peaceful protests and “question the oppressive rulers." “On August 5, people across the state and all over the world should come out wherever they are to express their stance and raise their voice," he said. Mehran also appealed to what he described as the global humanitarian community to support the people of Jammu & Kashmir. “I strongly appeal to the people across the state, the people of Pakistan, the overseas community and humanitarians worldwide to become the voice of Kashmiris and stand up for humanity," he said. Alleging a sustained crackdown in the region, Mehran claimed that targeted killings and mass arrests had continued for months.

“What is the fault of Kashmiris? What is the fault of the innocent people living here? For months, targeted killings have been taking place. Children are separated from their mothers, sons from their parents, and countless youths have been arrested and imprisoned," he alleged. Mehran concluded by urging people particularly across the 10 districts of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, as well as supporters abroad, to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people during the proposed August 5 demonstrations.
