The incident involved Air India flight AI2379, operated by aircraft VT-EXO, which was scheduled to arrive in Delhi at 11.15 am IST. According to initial information, the pilot reported that the aircraft suddenly dropped by approximately 300 feet during the flight. The altitude change is believed to have been caused by turbulence or an updraft/downdraft encountered during cruise.
The sudden movement resulted in injuries to several people on board. Initial reports suggested that one cabin crew member was seriously injured and a few passengers sustained minor injuries. Subsequently, airport officials said that around 10 passengers and four cabin crew members have reported injuries following the incident. In a statement, Fortis Hospital said, “As per the latest update, seven passengers have arrived at Fortis Flt. Lt. Rajan Dhall Hospital and have been admitted to the Emergency Department (ER). All patients were immediately assessed upon arrival, and treatment was initiated without delay." “Following the initial stabilisation of the patients, a Code Yellow was activated to ensure a coordinated hospital response and optimal deployment of resources.
