Speaking after landing at the Delhi airport, the passenger claimed the turbulence struck around one-and-a-half hours after take-off, when most passengers were asleep. “It had been an hour and a half since the flight. It was early morning. We were sleeping on the flight.

The flight suddenly stopped while moving and turned around. It kept moving like this for two to three minutes," the passenger said. “Fifteen to twenty passengers got injured. There were more than 100 people on the flight. Seventy to eighty per cent of the people got injured," he said. “We will 100 per cent take action against Air India," he added. In another interaction, the same passenger said his lower back was injured, while his brother suffered injuries to his shoulder and back. He also claimed that a baby was among those hurt during the turbulence. The passenger further alleged that his brother’s eardrum was ruptured in the turbulence. “My brother’s eardrum got ruptured. Someone’s baby got hurt. My lower back got injured. My brother got hurt on his shoulder and back. We’ll know more once the medico-legal report is prepared," the passenger said. INITIAL REPORTS PUT INJURED COUNT AT 12 According to news agency PTI, citing initial reports, 10 passengers and two cabin crew members sustained injuries in the turbulence-related incident.

The airline has not released the total number of passengers on board. Visuals from Delhi airport showed ambulances stationed outside the terminal, while several passengers were assisted in wheelchairs. Data from flight-tracking website Flightradar24 also indicated that the Airbus A320 operating the flight experienced a loss of altitude before landing in Delhi, consistent with the turbulence event. AIR INDIA CONFIRMS INCIDENT ON PHUKET TO DELHI FLIGHT In a statement, Air India confirmed that flight AI2379, operating from Phuket to Delhi on August 4, experienced a brief turbulence-related event during cruise, resulting in a momentary change in altitude. “The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers and crew have safely disembarked," the airline said. The airline added that there have been no reports of serious injuries. “A small number of passengers and crew members with minor injuries requiring medical assessment have been taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary examination and care by Air India’s airport team and medical personnel," it said. Air India also said it was extending all necessary support to those affected and cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as part of the investigation.
