NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched an aggressive political offensive against the Narendra Modi-led Central Government, leading a high-voltage march toward the Prime Minister's residence to protest the mandatory rollout of E20 (20% ethanol-blended) petrol. Addressing a crucial press conference, the former Delhi Chief Minister alleged that the Centre is forcing E20 fuel onto Indian citizens under intense external pressure from United States President Donald Trump to purchase American ethanol, calling it a 'hidden agenda' that yields to foreign interests.
Kejriwal, armed with an online petition signed by over 2.33 lakh citizens, claimed that E20 petrol is severely damaging older car and two-wheeler engines across the country, leaving vehicle owners with hefty repair bills. Despite Delhi Police denying permission and heavily barricading routes to prevent the march, Kejriwal and 100 selected AAP volunteers—who he stated 'do not fear police lathis or jail'—attempted to proceed, prompting a tense standoff and a subsequent sit-in protest by AAP leaders.
