Live blog Udhayanidhi Stalin Detained Live Updates: DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin was detained by police in Thanjavur on Tuesday amid mounting protests over his controversial remark involving actor Trisha during a Cauvery rights demonstration. As he was taken into custody, Udhayanidhi defended himself and told India Today's Pramod Madhav, "I didn't say anything wrong." The controversy erupted after a video from Monday's protest went viral, showing Udhayanidhi making a remark widely interpreted as a double entendre after supporters chanted "Trisha" during his speech.
The ruling TVK intensified its attack by filing a police complaint in Thanjavur and a separate complaint with the Commission for Women (NCW), accusing him of making obscene remarks, insulting women and deliberately circulating the video on social media. The BJP also demanded his arrest, while heavy police deployment was made outside the premises where Udhayanidhi was staying in Thanjavur.
