The DMK MP moved a notice under Rule 267 of the Rajya Sabha Rules, seeking suspension of the day’s business to discuss what he described as the suppression of democratic protests and reported threats to arrest the Leader of the Opposition. In his notice, the MP alleged that after the DMK organised statewide demonstrations over the Cauvery issue, protesters and political workers were subjected to coercive police action, criminal cases, restrictions and threats of arrest.
