Joined by fellow Haryana MPs Jai Prakash (JP), Varun Mullana, Satpal Brahmachari and Karmbir Bauddh, Hooda raised the slogan, “Medals come from Haryana, so why should the Games be held in Gujarat?", urging the Centre to reconsider its proposed venue.

Hooda said the delegation had assembled in Parliament to press Haryana’s claim to hosting rights for the multi-sport event. “Today, along with fellow MPs from Haryana, we protested in the Parliament complex demanding that Haryana be made the host or co-host state for the 2030 Commonwealth Games," he said. The Congress leader argued that Haryana has consistently produced the highest number of India’s international medal winners despite its relatively small population and therefore deserves the opportunity to host the Games. “Haryana has emerged as the country’s foremost sporting state by contributing the largest share of India’s medals at international competitions. The state’s contribution should be recognised by making it the host or co-host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games," Hooda said.

The demand comes as India prepares its bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The Centre has projected Gujarat, particularly Ahmedabad, as the principal venue, in line with its broader push to develop world-class sporting infrastructure and strengthen India’s Olympic ambitions. However, Congress leaders from Haryana contend that the state’s proven sporting pedigree and existing infrastructure make it a more deserving choice as they pointed out that Haryana has consistently produced a significant share of India’s medal winners in wrestling, boxing, athletics, shooting and hockey at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, bolstering its claim to play a central role in hosting the 2030 edition.
