The ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Tuesday (August 4, 2026) lodged a complaint with the Commission for Women against DMK youth wing secretary and Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin over his allegedly offensive remark, deemed to have been directed at a film actor, during a DMK demonstration in Thanjavur on August 3.
The complaint was lodged by Pazha Selvakumar, the party’s national spokesperson, seeking the intervention of the Commission for Women. It urged the Commission to issue a notice seeking an explanation from Mr. Udhayanidhi and an unconditional public apology for his alleged remark, which was prompted by audience chants.
The petition also sought directions to law enforcement authorities to initiate legal proceedings against him under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Several
Ministers in the TVK-led government have condemned Mr. Udhayanidhi’s alleged remarks. The party has also announced protests against Mr. Udhayanidhi on Tuesday (August 4).
