The Students Union of India organized a protest march from Raisina Road towards Jantar Mantar in Delhi against alleged police excesses during a recent Parliament march. Protesters accused security personnel of registering FIRs against students and using pellet guns, tear gas, and firearms. An NSUI spokesperson demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and requested security for a 15-year-old girl and other student protesters allegedly being abused by right-wing activists.
Security was beefed up as NSUI workers and leaders attempted to climb barricades. The issue has also echoed in Parliament, with opposition parties targeting the government over police action.
