Heavy rainfall continues to lash Kerala, causing major rivers including the Meenachil, Pampa, and Manimala to swell and trigger flood fears across Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts. The death toll in the state has risen to 15, with many people missing and thousands rendered homeless. Floodwaters have inundated suburbs, breached riverbanks at Aranmula, and submerged roads near local temples.
Emergency rescue operations are underway, with the Disaster Response Force deploying speedboats to evacuate stranded residents, including the elderly. Authorities declared a holiday for educational institutions in 12 districts as a precautionary measure.
