Vizag players shine at State-level carrom tournament

Haripriya, both from Visakhapatnam, emerged winners in menâs singles and womenâs singles categories respectively at the Andhra State 1st Ranking Carrom Tournamentâ2026 (Men and Women) organised by the SPSR Nellore District Carrom Association under the supervision of the Andhra State Carrom Association (ASCA). The three-day competition concluded at Nellore Club on Sunday evening.
Several players, sports personalities, officials, and carrom enthusiasts from various districts across the State participated in the valedictory and prize distribution ceremony. Sarayu Hero managing director A. Raj Kumar presented cash prizes, trophies, and certificates to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, tournament co-chairman and former Ranji cricketer Malireddy Kotareddy emphasised that discipline, dedication, and consistent practice were keys to achieving excellence in sports.
He encouraged the young players to strive for success at the national and international levels and bring laurels to the State. General Secretary of the ASCA, Shaik Abdul Jaleel, said that the winners received cash awards, trophies, and certificates. âThis tournament served as an excellent platform to identify talented players from across the State.
Based on their performances in the championship, a team has been selected to represent the State in forthcoming national-level competitions,â he added.
