Torrential rains continue to inundate several parts of Kerala, causing rivers to breach their banks and triggering flash flood warnings in low-lying areas, including Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts. The death toll from rain-related incidents has risen to 15, while thousands remain homeless and several individuals are missing. Overflowing rivers such as the Meenachil, Pampa, and Manimala have inundated residential areas and roads.
Disaster Response Force teams are deploying speedboats to evacuate stranded residents, particularly elderly citizens. An emergency review meeting was convened to assess the situation, and a holiday was declared for educational institutions in 12 districts. The weather department has forecast continued heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
