RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat is set to engage with Gen Z and Gen Alpha in Mumbai on August 6, as more than 2,000 students from over 100 cities gather for what is being billed as one of the world's largest youth-led conferences. The session with Bhagwat will take place at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) and will mark the inaugural ceremony of the annual championship conference of the International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN), which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. Read Full Story The conference brings together high school students aged between 15 and 19, with participants representing schools and colleges from across India. The gathering comes at a time when young people are increasingly participating in conversations around democracy, leadership and nation-building.
'LEADERSHIP IS ALSO ABOUT LISTENING' IIMUN founder Rishabh Shah said the interaction with Bhagwat comes at a critical point in India's journey and stressed the importance of listening to the younger generation. "Leadership is not only about guiding the next generation, but also listening to it. At this critical juncture in India's journey, we need this dialogue more than ever before," Shah said. He added, "I am grateful to Shri Mohan Bhagwat ji for accepting our invite to address this gathering at this critical juncture." Bhagwat's address will open IIMUN's flagship annual championship conference, where students debate and deliberate on local, national and international issues. The inaugural ceremony will centre on the theme, "The Role of Youth in Uniting the World, the Indian Way." IIMUN'S 15-YEAR JOURNEY Founded by Shah in 2011, IIMUN describes itself as a public affairs platform focused on spreading the idea of Bharat and preparing young people for leadership.
The organisation runs programmes led by people aged between 15 and 24 for students aged 11 to 19. It organises 108 conferences every year, along with thousands of civic engagements and community interventions led by young people. Over the past 15 years, several participants and organisers have gone on to become elected representatives, civil servants, authors, lawyers, actors and business leaders. IIMUN's programmes now span 275 cities across India and 40 countries. The organisation says its initiatives have reached more than 7.5 crore young people and involved over 1,50,000 schools and colleges. GLOBAL FIGURES AT IIMUN EVENTS Over the years, IIMUN has hosted 32 Heads of State, Nobel Laureates, Academy Award winners and more than 34,000 distinguished speakers and luminaries from around the world.
