In an exclusive interview with India Today, Rajiv Mohan, the advocate representing former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, discussed the Delhi court judgment acquitting his client in a sexual harassment case. Mohan stated that the court acquitted Singh after finding significant inconsistencies, contradictions, and unexplained delay in the prosecution's case, concluding that 'the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond all reasonable doubt.' He highlighted that statements made by complainants during investigation and trial contradicted their earlier affidavits filed before the oversight committee, including conflicting details regarding the alleged place of occurrence.
Mohan explained that under criminal law, contradictory versions from complainants entitle the accused to the benefit of doubt. Addressing potential appeals by wrestlers to higher courts, Mohan remarked that existing contradictions and evidence recorded during the trial will remain key points of argument.
