(PTI/File) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that he will lead a march to the Prime Minister’s residence on Tuesday to submit a public petition opposing the rollout of E20-blended petrol. He said he will leave the AAP headquarters at 12 noon with 100 people and hopes Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the delegation and hear its concerns. Kejriwal said the party’s online petition against E20-blended fuel has received 2,33,238 signatures within a few days.

He added that he had written to the Prime Minister about a month ago seeking an appointment but had not received any response. AAP Claims E20 Is Affecting Vehicles And Fuel Efficiency Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal alleged that people across the country are facing problems due to E20-blended petrol, claiming that the fuel reduces vehicle mileage and damages engines. He accused the Centre of continuing with the policy without addressing public concerns or explaining its rationale. Kejriwal further claimed that the government’s decision has raised questions among people and referred to allegations that the Centre was under pressure from the United States regarding ethanol imports. He alleged that the government plans to purchase ethanol worth $20 billion over the next five years, though he did not provide evidence to support the claim. Petition To Be Submitted At PM’s Residence The AAP chief said he and 100 party members will march from the party headquarters to the Prime Minister’s residence on Tuesday to personally submit the petition and seek a discussion on the impact of ethanol-blended fuel.

“We want to explain why ethanol is harmful and how people are suffering because of it," he said, adding that the party hopes the Prime Minister will meet the delegation. Claims Of Public Support And Intimidation Kejriwal said the party’s ‘ Town Hall Against E20’, held on Saturday, witnessed large participation. According to him, the event attracted a packed audience, while nearly 7 lakh people watched it live online. He also alleged that influencers, content creators and citizens speaking against E20-blended petrol have been subjected to online trolling and threats of FIRs, claiming that many people are hesitant to raise their concerns due to fear. Kejriwal reiterated that the march is aimed at handing over the public petition directly to the Prime Minister and urging the Centre to address concerns over the use of E20-blended fuel.
