Fed up with call drops? TRAI wants every mobile user to do this to improve call quality

TRAI has launched a revamped version of its MyCall app, giving mobile users a simple way to report how good or bad their voice calls are. If you've ever faced a call drop, poor voice quality, or a call that took forever to connect, you can now report it directly through the app. The regulator says this feedback will help telecom companies identify network issues and improve call quality over time. The updated app is available for Android users via the Google Play Store. After a call ends, the app can automatically ask whether the call quality was good or bad. If you faced any issues, you can also mention exactly what went wrong. For instance, users can report call drops, echo during calls, audio delays, voice breaking, cross connections, one person being unable to hear the other, or calls taking unusually long to connect. According to TRAI, this feedback is shared with the concerned telecom operator in an anonymised form, meaning your identity is not revealed. The regulator believes this will help companies like Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL quickly identify weak network areas and take corrective action.
It is not a complaint app, but it could still improve your network Apart from call ratings, the new MyCall app also lets users check signal strength using a Coverage Test feature and view their previous feedback on an interactive map. TRAI says the app combines consumer feedback with network information to get a better understanding of the actual calling experience instead of relying only on technical network tests. TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said the revamped app is expected to strengthen consumer participation by enabling subscribers to provide immediate feedback on their call experience. According to him, the feedback will help telecom operators identify network deficiencies and improve service quality.
He also urged users to download the app and share feedback regularly, saying, "Every feedback matters, and together we can build a better calling experience for every telecom consumer." At the same time, TRAI has clarified that MyCall is not a customer complaint platform. If you have an individual issue related to your mobile service, such as billing or SIM problems, you will still need to contact your telecom operator directly. The app is designed only to collect large-scale feedback on voice call quality across telecom networks. Ends
