Si time MLA from the Narasimharaja constituency and former Minister Tanveer Sait on Monday expressed disappointment over not being inducted into D.K. Shivakumar’s Cabinet, with his name missing from the list of Ministers cleared by the AICC. Sait, who was a strong aspirant for a ministerial berth and had remained confident of securing the party high command’s approval during the second phase of Cabinet expansion, said he was disappointed by the decision.

“ This has disappointed my party workers and supporters. One of my supporters allegedly attempted suicide after learning that I had not been made a Minister. I had hoped to be inducted into the Cabinet, but it has not happened. My immediate priority is to speak to my supporters and party workers in the wake of this development,” he said. Sait said he had not exerted any pressure on the party leadership for a ministerial position but had expected the leadership to consider his seniority and experience.

“I respect the people of my constituency who have elected me as an MLA six times. My immediate priority is to calm my supporters, who are disappointed and have taken to the streets to express their resentment over my exclusion from the Cabinet. Power is not permanent, but my people are my

greatest asset,” he said. Stating that he would speak in detail after consulting his party workers and supporters, Mr. Sait added, “I must say that an injustice has been done to me.” Supporters of Mr. Sait staged protests and raised slogans in Mysuru after finding he was left out of the State Cabinet.
