Even as his supporters demanded that Tanveer Sait, a si time MLA, resign from the Assembly in protest at being denied a ministerial berth, former Minister Tanveer Sait on Monday expressed his displeasure at the induction of leaders who had allegedly indulged in anti-party activities.
Without naming anyone, Mr. Sait said the party had failed to act against those allegedly involved in anti-party activities despite having collected all the necessary information. Referring to the alleged incidents during the Davangere by-election, he said the party had taken no action even though the developments had affected its reputation and electoral prospects.
When asked whether he was referring to B. Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan, Mr. Sait declined to comment or name any individual. Sait, however, said he respected the decision of the party leadership and would continue to remain a loyal soldier of the Congress.
“At the same time, there is immense pressure from party workers and my supporters. I have to listen to their sentiments and then decide my next course of action,” he said.
