At just 17 years and 223 days old, Sharma beat the mark set by former Taiwanese star Tai Tzu Ying. Tai, who retired in 2025, had won the same title when she was 18 years and 109 days old.
Speaking after her win on Sunday in Taipei, Sharma said, "didn't expect to win the title over here, but I thought will give it my best. I was nervous for sure."
