As Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke prepares to return to India on June 6 and launch a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, the group has received public support from climate activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk.
Wangchuk, popularised as Rancho in 3 Idiots, for his unconventional approach to education and problem-solving, said he was convinced by the group's "immensely patriotic" intent and "willingness to make sacrifices" for the country.
The backing comes at a time when the month-old youth pressure group, which began as an online satire, is attempting to move beyond social media and give itself a more formal structure.
The CJP has appointed three spokespersons who will be representing the movement in public and to the media.
This marks a clear effort to organise and professionalise the outfit ahead of planned protests.
