Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Ashwini Panwar of the Rouse Avenue Courts passed the order, acquitting Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar in the sexual harassment case.

Last month, the Court had fixed August 3 as the date for the pronouncement of judgment in the case. Speaking to CNN-News18, Singh said: “The court has acquitted me. I had said that day that I would hang myself if found guilty. Today, I am walking free after being acquitted." The verdict was reserved after hearing the prosecution, the complainants as well as the accused individuals, according to LiveLaw. What Is The Case? The case stemmed from sexual harassment allegations made by women wrestlers against Singh, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, during his tenure as WFI chief. Media reports suggested that the said incidents took place between 2016 and 2019 at the WFI office, at Singh’s official residence and also abroad.

In 2023, the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet against him, alleging offences of sexual harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation. The charge sheet invoked provisions under Sections 354, 354A, 354D and 506(1) of the now-abolished Indian Penal Code (IPC). Vinod Tomar was named a co-accused in the case.
