A poster announcing the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Commemorative Meetings, to be held from August 6 to 9, was released at the Department of Social Work, Andhra University, on Monday (August 3, 2026). The programme is being organised by the B.V. Foundation for Peace and Harmony, an affiliated body of the International Association for Religious Freedom (IARF), with the United Religions Initiative (URI).
According to IARF chairman Narava Prakasa Rao, the programme aims to promote an anti-nuclear mindset, particularly among students. Meetings will be held at Alwar Das
Degree College, MVP Colony, on August 6; the BVF Centre, Beach Road, on August 7; the Government Home for Girls on August 8; and the
Gandhi Centre, L.B. College, on August 9. A photo exhibition on the devastation caused by nuclear attacks will also be held.
