A Mumbai man has alleged that he found a corroded metal pin embedded inside a piece of kaju katli he had purchased from a popular sweet shop, prompting him to confront the staff and raise concerns over food safety. In a series of Instagram posts, Prannoy Palav shared photos and videos while recounting the incident in detail. Prannoy had purchased 500 grams each of kaju katli and motichoor laddoos from Tewari Bros at Charni Road on the evening of July 29.
Read Full Story As he was about to feed a piece of kaju katli to his three-year-old daughter, Prannoy noticed something unusual. On taking a closer look, he allegedly discovered a corroded metal pin embedded inside the sweet. "It was only by chance that I spotted it before she ate it. The consequences could have been extremely serious," he said in the post. "Customers trust that the food they purchase, especially sweets meant to be shared with family and children, is prepared and handled safely.
Finding a rusty metal object inside a sweet is completely unacceptable. Food safety should never be compromised," he added. Along with the post, Prannoy shared a photograph showing him holding the metal pin that he claimed was found inside the sweet. He also posted videos of himself confronting the sweet shop staff and asking them to open the box of kaju katli, where a metal pin was visible inside one of the sweets. In one video, a staff member was seen removing the pin from the sweet while Prannoy questioned the shop about its food safety practices.
In another video, Prannoy entered the shop's kitchen and filmed the area where the surroundings appeared untidy. He also pointed out the presence of a small washroom inside the kitchen, alleging that the setup reflected poor hygiene standards. The sweet shop has not publicly responded to the allegations so far.
