Ghaziabad Psychiatrist Dies By Suicide After Jumping From Apartment; Family Cites Depression After Divorce Published By, Last Updated: August 03, 2026, 11:55 IST A 40-year-old psychiatrist allegedly died by suicide after jumping from her fifth-floor apartment in Ghaziabad. Her family says she had been battling depression after her divorce. (Photos: Social Media) A 40-year-old psychiatrist allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fifth floor of her apartment in a residential society in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, police said. The incident took place at Officers City-2 Society in Raj Nagar Extension under the jurisdiction of the Nandgram police station. According to Ghaziabad Police, the Nandgram police station received information about the incident on August 2. The deceased was identified as Dr Himika Agrawal, daughter of Dr Rakesh Chander (R) Agrawal, who was residing on the fifth floor of Officers City-2 Society.
Confirming the incident, ACP Ziauddin Ahmad said, “On August 2, the Nandgram police station received information that a woman identified as Himika Agrawal, daughter of Rakesh Chander Agrawal, who was living on the fifth floor of Officers City-2 Society in Raj Nagar Extension under the Nandgram police station limits, died by suicide after jumping from the fifth floor." Police said the body had been taken into custody and legal proceedings were being carried out as per procedure. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were being investigated. According to her family, Dr Himika Agrawal had been battling depression and emotional distress since her divorce around one-and-a-half years ago. Her father, Dr R Chandra Agrawal, a noted psychiatrist in Ghaziabad, was quoted by NDTV as saying that the separation had taken a severe toll on her mental health and that she had been under considerable emotional stress since the marriage ended.
Residents of the society and bystanders rushed Dr Agrawal to a nearby hospital immediately after the incident. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival. NO SUICIDE NOTE RECOVERED Police said they were examining all aspects of the case. Statements of family members were being recorded, while evidence from the scene was being reviewed as part of the investigation. Officials did not officially confirm the recovery of any suicide note.
