The Cauvery water-sharing dispute has flared up once again, with the DMK accusing the Karnataka government of failing to release Tamil Nadu's allocated share of water. DMK leaders argued that Karnataka cannot unilaterally withhold water once the allocation has been determined under the Cauvery water-sharing mechanism and tribunal framework. Calling the denial of Tamil Nadu's share unlawful, the party warned that the matter could once again reach the courts if the prescribed quantum of water is not released, setting the stage for fresh political and legal confrontation between the two states.
