The West Bengal STF has claimed to have foiled a major terror conspiracy allegedly linked to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Two accused Hamim Mandal alias Hamim Feugo and Arpita Sarkar have been arrested from West Bengal and Jharkhand respectively. According to the FIR, the duo allegedly acted under instructions from handlers based in Islamabad and were part of a plot to assassinate West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
Investigators also allege plans to target CJP protesters, honey-trap VIPs, and receive operational instructions via WhatsApp using international SIM cards. Hamim and Arpita, who reportedly met on Instagram and were engaged after a four-year relationship, have been booked under the UAPA as the investigation continues.
