A celebration dinner organized to mark the record-breaking boxing campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 took an unexpected turn after an Olympic medalist boxer raised concerns regarding an inaccurate map of India printed on restaurant napkins and external displays. The map entirely omitted the Northeast region and failed to properly depict parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The boxer, who hails from Assam, expressed disappointment over the flawed depiction and urged the establishment to ensure accurate representation of every part of the country.
The concerns were supported by the Boxing Federation of India President, who also highlighted the omission of Jammu and Kashmir. The controversy occurred shortly after the national boxing squad completed a successful Commonwealth Games campaign by winning five gold medals and one silver. Following the incident, the issue was highlighted to emphasize the shared responsibility of identifying such errors and requesting immediate corrections.
