In an interview with India Today, BJP leader Vinoth P Selvam criticised the Congress and DMK over the Cauvery water dispute and state rights issues. Speaking on political allegations, Selvam asserted, "DMK and Congress both are betrayers of the people of Tamil Nadu." He accused Karnataka's Congress government of withholding surplus Cauvery water from Tamil Nadu farmers and alleged collusion between DMK, Congress, and TVK leadership.
Selvam argued that Congress historically undermined Tamil Nadu's interests on key regional issues including Cauvery and Katchatheevu.
