Jaismine struck gold in the women’s 57kg category, adding to the bronze medal she won at the Birmingham 2022 CWG.

One of India’s most consistent boxers in recent years, Jaismine won the world title in Liverpool last year before claiming silver at the Asian Championships earlier this year. India are all set to host the next edition of the CWG in Ahmedabad in 2030. The CWG will be handed over to India. India’s vibrant culture and its shared values with the Commonwealth family will be shown during the handover segment of the Glasgow CWG closing ceremony at the Hydro. As per an official release, the Handover Segment will unfold across three acts, taking the audience on a journey celebrating shared values, culture and connection. On Saturday, August 1, Preeti Pawar opened India’s golden run with a commanding 5-0 win against Canada’s Scarlett Delgado in the women’s 54kg final.

Jaismine then matched that scoreline, beating defending champion Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland 5-0 to clinch the women’s 57kg gold. In the women’s competition, Jaismine edged a closely fought opening round by split decision, with both boxers trading strong attacks throughout. Jaismine then took control of the bout, winning the second round unanimously after landing a series of clean, powerful punches. Indian boxers scripted history at the CWG, bagging a record 10-medal haul, seven gold and three silver, the country’s best-ever performance in the sport at the Games. “We had an exceptional and historic last two days. Winning seven gold and three silver in boxing is the biggest performance in the last 100 years of CWG," Boxing Federation of India chief Ajay Singh said during a media interaction.
