A 150-meter Flag rally was held to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya, the designer of the Indian Flag, by the Sri Swami Vivekananda Voluntary Organisation on Sunday (August 2, 2026). The rally, led by the organisation’s honorary president, C.M.A. Zaheer Ahmed, and former Round Table chairman Maksud Ahmed, proceeded from the Vivekananda organisation premises to Rani Bomma in the city.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Zaheer Ahmed said Pingali Venkayya’s contribution had united millions of Indians under a common national symbol. He described the commemorative rally as an inspiring tribute and urged the State government to extend financial assistance to Venkayya’s family, install his statue in the Assembly, and observe his birth anniversary as a national celebration.
Organisation president Appa Rao, senior member T. Sai Balaram, social worker T. Krishna, members of the organisation, women volunteers and a large number of students
participated in the programme.
