A intense spell of rain has triggered severe flash floods and landslides across several districts in Kerala, destroying 27 houses and damaging nearly 200 others. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert across 12 districts, including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad, and Kannur. Eight deaths have been recorded, and many people remain missing while thousands have been moved to over 200 relief camps.
Roads in regions like Pathanamthitta and Kottayam have turned into rivers, forcing residents to use boats for transportation. An emergency review meeting was convened by state authorities to coordinate relief measures and direct ministers to monitor affected districts on the ground.
