The written competitive examinations for direct recruitment of Civil Police Constable (CPC) posts conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on Sunday (August 2) were peaceful in Yadgir and Raichur districts. The district administrations and education departments concerned made all arrangements, including security, for examination centres in both districts. Nineteen centres were set up in Yadgir district. For non-Hyderabad Karnataka cadre, a total of 7,979 aspirants were enrolled for the morning session examination, which was held between 10.30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and of them, 7,672 were present and 307 were absent.
In the evening session, held from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. for the Hyderabad Karnataka division, 6,592 aspirants were enrolled. Of them, 6,371 were present and 221 were absent. In Raichur, 15,239 aspirants were enrolled for the morning session, and of them, 14,632 aspirants appeared for the exam while 607 did not. In the evening session, 11,749 aspirants were enrolled — 11,318 were present and 431 were absent.
The authorities set up 45 examination centres for morning sessions and 34 for evening sessions. “The examinations were conducted in a transparent manner and were completely peaceful,” Rahul Pandve, Deputy Commissioner of Yadgir, told The Hindu. Yadgir Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar said that adequate police personnel had been deployed at every exam centre along with senior supervisory officers to maintain strict security protocols.
Raichur Superintendent of Police Arunangshu Giri confirmed that the exams were conducted smoothly across the district without any untoward incident.
