In an interview with India Today, senior BJP leader and former Education Minister Smriti Irani discussed the recent Gen Z protests over exam paper leaks and the government's legislative response. Addressing concerns about a disconnect between the government and youth, Irani defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approach, highlighting the passage of the anti-paper leak bill and direct outreach to citizens.
Speaking on the protests at Jantar Mantar, she remarked, "You do not have the right to anarchy," while stressing that democratic rights include debate and dissent, but not violence against security personnel or threats to national institutions. Irani emphasized that Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down to protect protesting students from being exploited by criminal elements. She further outlined the Modi government’s initiatives for youth and women, including the New Education Policy, bank accounts, and women's reservation, while urging against creating age-based divisions in society.
