The civilian who intervened appears to have caught the attacker off guard. Several bystanders witnessed the exchange, with at least one capturing it on video. Another eyewitness reported seeing him fire at the suspected attacker. Lane Koehn, 34, said he was stopped at a traffic light near the scene when he noticed a man with an AR-style rifle at the drive-thru, as per a NDTV report. Moments later, he saw another individual respond by firing a pistol at the gunman. Koehn also described seeing a restaurant employee dragging an injured person across the parking lot before police ordered people to evacuate. Online, many users have praised the unidentified man’s actions. Some called him a “patriot" who risked his life to protect others, while others described him as a “good guy with a gun" confronting a “bad guy with a gun." At the same time, questions about his identity continue to circulate widely.
