Mysuru’s Kabini Dam has started releasing water towards Tamil Nadu after heavy rainfall in Kerala’s catchment areas led to a sharp rise in reservoir inflows. The outflow was increased to 12,000 cusecs after inflows surged close to 40,000 cusecs, prompting authorities to regulate water levels. Residents along the Kabini and Cauvery river stretches downstream have been advised to remain alert as rainfall continues.
