Donald Trump said that the proposed deal centres on two key conditions. The first is the “immediate, complete and total" reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important shipping lanes through which a significant share of global oil supplies passes. The second condition is an end to Iran’s nuclear threat. Donald Trump did not elaborate on what specific commitments or verification measures this would involve. “This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat," Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. Donald Trump said he agreed to cancel the planned US military attack after Iran and other Middle Eastern countries requested that Washington hold off, claiming that the “parameters" of a deal had already been agreed.
“Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL," he wrote. What Has Iran Said? Iran has not publicly confirmed Trump’s assertion that the framework of a deal has been agreed or that it requested a pause in US military action. Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Tehran would respond “decisively and proportionally" to any aggression by the US, Israel or other countries in the region during separate calls with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
